It struck me, because in real life I also see myself as a function, and I feel like if I don't perform my function I won't have a right to exist. You made a good point there.
I am glad it resonated with you, Andrea. As a queer girl, when I heard fairytales as a kid I usually identified with male characters, and only recently I realized that I spent a huge portion of my life having interiorized this system of belief!
